Introduction:
Asus has released the first ever standardized LGA 1700 motherboard (Thin Mini-ITX format), which is powered by a 19V adaptor and intended for marketing sales. Naturally, the power-efficient Intel processors from the 12th Generation Core were on the horizon.
The Pro H610T D4-CSM motherboard is geared toward business users, and its components are tuned accordingly. To achieve so, Asus employed the Mini-ITX standard (170 170 mm). The Pro H610T D4-CSM is the first motherboard of its kind for Alder Lake and later Raptor Lake processors (dimensions and LGA 1700 compatibility).
The CSM (Corporate Stable Model) name refers to Asus' 36-month support programmed, which is critical in vertical markets. It also gives clients six months' notice before a computer system's end-of-life. In simple words, who don’t know what it is:
- It looks like a laptop-style motherboard.
- It requires a 19V power supply.
- It doesn't have a detached GPU or PCI-E/PCI slots; hence the M.2 slot is powered by the PCH lanes (so PCIE 4.0, unlike all other H610 boards, which are forced to use the lanes for the GPU).
- It has an M.2 storage slot, two SATA ports, and an M.2 Wi-Fi slot, but no aerial port on the i/o panel.
- In addition to HDMI and DP, it features LVDS (laptop-style) graphics output.
- SO-DIMMs are used (laptop RAM) DrMOS power 4+1+1 50A You get 4 USB ports and 1 fan header.
All models of Alder Lake processors with a TDP of up to 65W are supported. The AsusPro H610T D4-CSMmotherboard is relatively simple in terms of functionality and capabilities, as it's geared mostly at small business computers. This device works with all 12th-generation Core, Pentium, and Celeron LGA1700 CPUs (from 65W-to-65W TDP) and features a six-phase digital VRM with high-quality components and rigorous testing to assure robustness in demanding situations.
This motherboard is recommended by FanlessTech for Alder Lake fanless builds, which could be a good idea for HTPCs to give Alder Lake's latest Xe-LP GPU premium media processing aptitudes (video pipeline of 12-bit end-to-end, AV1/H.264/H.265 decoding, support BT.2020, HDR10/Dolby Vision, 4K/8Kp60 playback).
Specifications
The H610T D4-CSM motherboard is primarily targeted at business users. It may be appealing for a variety of integrated systems when the limited performance and endurance of mobile BGA processors (often used in barebone PCs) is insufficient.
- It has internal connectors for connecting and controlling thin panels, an LVDS connector, a DMIC, and a COM serial interface are among the board's "unique" features.
- It features two SATA-type connectors for inch SSDs/HDDs as well one M.2 slot for PCIe 3.0 SSDs in a full-size (four-lane linked) and a hybrid with the only storage connectors (with SATA III support). There's one more M.2 slot, but it's for a Wi-Fi module and has an E-key.
- It also has a GbE port (a Realtek controller), two USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectors, two USB 2.0 ports along with two display outputs (DisplayPort 1.4a and HDMI 2.1), audio 3 connectors, 5 mm, and a 19 V DC input round out the connectivity options.
- The Intel H610 chipset powers the Asus H610T D4-CSM, and the 5-phase Vcore power supply is ideal for processors with TDPs up to 65 W. We don't know if the power supply will precisely keep to the suggested numbers for PL1 (TDP/65 W), but the board will almost certainly not function with more powerful processors with a TDP of 125 W, and you won't be able to get into the BIOS to manually reduce the power draw with them.
- DDR4 memory in SO-DIMM format is supported (modules can be installed in a count of two, dual-channel). Officially, speeds of up to 3200 MHz and capacities of up to 64 GB are supported.
- Meanwhile, the CSM designation indicates that the platform is part of the Asus CSM (corporate stable model), which guarantees continuous 36-month availability, 6-month end-of-life notification, and Asus Control Center Express software optimized for business/commercial environments to simplify serviceability.
- A TPM module header, a self-recovering BIOS with event log, a Q-LED diagnostic display, and even a COM debug header are all included on the motherboard.
Final Words:
The Pro H610T D4 motherboard does not yet have a release date or price, but considering its limited capabilities, anticipate it to arrive shortly and for a reasonable price.
